Beware of the Timeshare Marketing Companies
posted 31st August 2022
Beware of timeshare marketing companies that aren't regulated and pass you off to third-party companies. Every week we receive over fifty calls from worried timeshare owners that have paid upfront fees to unregulated companies, only later to find out they have been scammed. Timeshare owners are contacted by cold callers or respond to adverts on Google that purport to offer the solutions they are looking for.
In order to protect yourself from scams, NEVER do business with an unregulated company and NEVER pay upfront fees. If you do business with a company that isn't FCA or SRA-regulated, you are not protected if anything goes wrong. Just because the company the marketing company is passing you onto, 'maybe' regulated, still doesn't protect the money you have paid. The FCA hasn't regulated these marketing companies for a reason!
The modus operandi for timeshare marketing companies is to try and convince you that the advice you have been given is wrong and that you need to spend MORE money to correct the mistakes others have made. Unregulated advice is unqualified advice! Marketing companies use ex-timeshare salespeople to convince, bully, and scare you into spending money you may not need to spend.
If you are considering doing business with a company that is asking for upfront fees, STAY AWAY!
