Give Back Your Timeshare
Some timeshare companies will take back your timeshare ownership free of charge, although there are very few. History teaches us that timeshare companies would rather upgrade you or keep you locked into a long-term maintenance fee agreement. If you are offered a free exit, you may well be asked to sign a waiver preventing you from seeking compensation. We recommend that a free exit would be the best option as long as you do not qualify for a claim.
Sell Your Timeshare
Timeshare owners can rarely resell their timeshare ownerships. Only specific weeks at specific resorts have any chance of being sold on the second-hand market. Most timeshare resale companies will take an upfront fee from you, knowing full well that there is no chance that it will ever sell. If you own a timeshare with a reputable company, such as Disney, you will have a much better chance of reselling. A quick google search shows that anyone can stay at a timeshare resort without owning a timeshare or paying maintenance, defeating the object of buying a second-hand timeshare. Rent out your Timeshare
If you cannot use your timeshare and need to find a way to cover the cost of your fees, renting may be an option. Renting your unit to friends and family might be a short term solution. However, most package holidays resorts now offer superior value for money and quality of accommodation.
Cancel your contract under the 14-day cooling-off period
If you have just purchased a timeshare, you have 14 days to cancel the agreement. Your statutory rights allow you 14 days to cancel your newly signed agreement and any finance contract you signed. It is most likely that you were subject to high-pressure selling tactics and forced to make decisions on the day. If so, don't take the salesman's word for what they sold you. It is essential to read the small print and consider the full ramifications of your decision.
